this excellent anthology has ideal selections for metaphysical and cavalier poets, including women, but what makes it exceptional is the scholarly essay collection in the back of the book. If you are a Renaissance scholar you will want this book
Bought this for a 17C English Poetry class (shocker) and it was very helpful and easy to navigate. It will also serve as a good reference book, so no money wasted here.
I have to admit I ordered this book for a class but I have found myself reading much of the content not assigned. The poetry of the time is different than what I am used to. It is very tied into the indecision of the British royals about the state religion.
No complaints!
